Accessibility Statement
acemate UG (haftungsbeschränkt) wants its service to be usable by everyone, regardless of disability or impairment. This statement applies to the website and web app at acemate.ai and contains the information required by § 14 in conjunction with Annex 3 of the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz, BFSG).
Description of the Service
acemate is an AI-powered learning platform. Learners upload their own study materials (e.g. lecture slides, scripts or documents) and automatically get flashcards, practice exams, summaries, notes, audio summaries and an AI tutor that answers questions about the material. Educators and institutions can create courses and share them with their learners.
The service runs in the browser after signing up with an email address. A premium subscription can be purchased directly on the website; payments are handled by our payment provider.
Applicable Standards
We follow the requirements of the BFSG and its accompanying regulation (BFSGV). As the technical benchmark we use the harmonised European standard EN 301 549 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at conformance level AA.
Compliance Status
Our service is partially accessible. The content and features listed below do not yet fully meet the requirements.
How We Implement Accessibility
- Keyboard operation: Menus, dialogs and other controls are built on accessible standard components and can be operated with a keyboard; focus is visible.
- Assistive technology support: We use semantic HTML and, where needed, ARIA attributes so screen readers can identify structure and controls.
- Adaptable display: The layout adapts to different screen sizes and stays usable at up to 200% zoom. Light and dark modes are available.
- Multiple languages: The interface is available in German and English.
- Alternative formats: Study content can also be listened to as an audio summary.
Non-Accessible Content
- Uploaded documents: Files uploaded by users (e.g. PDFs or presentations) are displayed as they were created. We have no control over their accessibility.
- AI-generated content: Automatically generated content (e.g. flashcards, exams or summaries) may contain images, formulas or tables that do not always have a text alternative.
- Complex controls: Some interactive features, such as the note editor or drag-and-drop sorting, are not yet fully operable with a keyboard and screen reader.
- Third-party services: Embedded third-party content and services (e.g. payment processing or embedded videos) are outside our control and may not be fully accessible.
We review our service continuously and are fixing known barriers step by step.
Preparation of This Statement
